The Beginning and How did I got in this Musical Project

THE BEGINING and How did I got in this Musical Project.-

My musical life started at 9, in 1974. I began learning Classical Piano which I studied for 5 years. Almost since the begining, I found that I could play by "ear" and could easily hear a song, memorize it and then try to find it in the keyboard. My teacher didn´t wanted me to play by ear because she had difficulties teaching me how to read the notes. Anyway, I could not stop playing by ear, mostly popular music of that time.

Also I noticed that everytime I played when people was around, I caught their attention, and sometimes I even noticed that I could move their feelings when playing certain song. They would stop to listen to me. This by playing popular music. So I began enjoying making people happy; and began learning the songs that moved their feelings.

When I was 11, my parents bought me the smallest Lowrey Organ of the line. Then they traded it for a mid-sized Yamaha Organ. Then I began hearing Organ music records of Juan Torres y su Organo Melodico, and I just loved his music and style. After this I began looking for a Hammond Organ until my father traded the Yamaha for a Hammond. From there until now, I´m in love with these organs.

The years passed by, and I played in several places, types of events, etc, always as hobby. I even got my own band for several years. In 1994 I started a public recording studio, in which I got the opportunity to learn many recording technics that I still use; and in 1997, I remember reading a book that suggested you to write down the 25 things you would like to do before you die. My first one was: "I want to know Juan Torres", so I called the Telephone Information Operator to look for Juan Torres in Queretaro, Mexico. She gave me a number and told me she was unsure if that was the write one. So I called, and there was on the other side of the line, "The Great Juan Torres y su Organo Melodico".

I presented myself and told him about my musical story, and how I have been following his recordings, etc. He was very patient with me and we talked about an hour. Some months passed by, and he called me to my work that his car had broken in a near city and he needed help. I went there and had the opportunity to meet him and his lovely wife in person; and we had a marvelous afternoon talking about Organ Music, his story, and how he got to this career.

From there started a very close friendship with him and also he got to know me as his "virtual" student, to the point that he became my teacher and mentor until his death in 2002. He helped me to find my own style, and I began making educational recordings to learn how to record, etc.

He even invited me to participate in one of his concerts in 2001, playing with him in stage. You can see some of the pictures in my webpage.

For the ones who didn´t got the opportunity to know Juan Torres, he recorded 74 or so, records in his professional carreer been accompained by orchestras, mariachis, etc. He played the Hammond organ and was the lead in the song. His music was instrumental, except by some songs in which he sang.

In 2007, my wife and I went to a Jose Feliciano Concert, and in some part of his concert he said something that I understood as "What are you doing about music?" and I felt deep inside me that I had the responsability with God to do the best I could do with the talent He gave me about music and all the musical experiences He put me since my childhood.

This motivated me toward this project, and thanks to the support of my wife and family, we started in 2007 by creating http://www.pianoandorganmusic.com/ to promote and sell Piano and Organ Music.

And all has to have a starting point, so, we started by producing my first four recordings: Two with International Themes and Two with Latin Themes. Three of the Recordings were done in Hammond Organ and one in an Acoustic Yamaha BabyGrand Piano.

Many people prefer Piano more than the Organ. Since I play both, and love both, I would like to continue recording also in Piano. In fact, I have more recordings that are not produced yet, but hopefully will be available in the near future.

Thank You for reading.
